New Report Claims Rumors Giulia Dropped NXT Title To Stephanie Vaquer Due To An Injury Is Fake News

It seems that Giulia losing the NXT Women’s World title to Stephanie Vaquer earlier this month had nothing to do with needing time off due to an injury.

The addition of Giulia was one of the biggest signings in the history of NXT’s women’s division. She was an international star who rose to fame in Japan and was viewed as one of the industry’s best female performers outside WWE.

That is why her dominance since arriving last year has been no surprise. Nor was winning NXT’s top women’s title earlier this year. However, it did surprise many when the company booked her in a title vs. title match against North American champ and pal Stephanie Vaquer. It made many wonder if one of them might have an issue that would require time away. Since a bout was expected further down the road at a much bigger event.

Soon after the match was made, rumors spread that Giulia was indeed injured. And it was the reason why she would drop the title to Vaquer. However, a new report claims that was not at all the reason for her shorter-than-expected run as NXT champ.

An injury had nothing to do with Giulia losing the NXT title to Stephanie Vaquer

In a new edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the outlet claimed that sources inside WWE denied reports that Giulia was injured and was headed for a hiatus from the ring. That claim was backed up recently when the former champ made an unexpected appearance at an NXT live event.

Following her title loss a couple of weeks ago, there were rumors that VISA issues also played a role. But working a recent live event also seems to disspel that idea. It will be interesting to see if Giulia returns to NXT television soon. If she does, it would confirm that the company is very high on Vaquer, and their decision to make her a two-belt holder was not influenced by outside-the-ring issues.
