It was a nice moment ahead of the main event, and one most probably didn’t expect. As Cody Rhodes walked from his bus to the ring, he encountered one notable legend. Arn Anderson-long a Rhodes family friend-had not been seen in WWE in roughly five years. Upon leaving the company, he unsurprisingly found a home with AEW. But when that contract expired earlier in 2024, plenty of speculation ramped up. Could we see Arn Anderson return to WWE? Would we see him work as a manager of sorts for the American Nightmare?
We have no answers yet. But we did get an awesome moment between Cody and Arn in the back. During that brief exchange-which managed to pop the Cleveland crowd, in spite of it happening in the back-Arn told Cody that he wouldn’t be going it alone. He alluded to Rhodes having some friends that he knew, and maybe some he wouldn’t expect. That comment, of course, foreshadowed the return of Roman Reigns, who lent his support to his longtime foe.
So, is Double A back?
To be honest, we don’t yet know. For now, the SummerSlam appearance could simply be a one-off. No one has solidly confirmed that Anderson has re-joined the company. It seems a likely next step, if it hasn’t yet happened, but nothing has been confirmed. Surprisingly, Rhodes was asked about Anderson during the press conference. Rhodes said he wants to see more Arn Anderson in WWE. But no one asked if an Arn appearance was the start of something or just a nice moment as a favor.

Thinking logically, I doubt Triple H or Nick Khan allow that moment to happen without at least a strong framework of a deal in place. Or, an agreement of some sort. It’s fun to speculate, because as mentioned before, once he became a free agent, plenty wondered if we might see Rhodes get his on-screen confidant back. And, while it might be reviving some AEW fun, a Nightmare Family versus The Bloodline feud could be good television too. Of course, for now, it’s all about the Bloodline versus itself. So, do you want see Arn Anderson work closely with Cody Rhodes in WWE?
