A new report has revealed a bunch of updates on Summerslam, including plans for WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes and United States Champ Logan Paul.

Summerslam is the biggest event of the summer in the world of professional wrestling. The legendary August show is one of the most profitable each year for the company and that is not going to change in 2024 when the event goes down in the home of the Cleveland Browns.

With over a month to go until the event, there has been various speculation about the key matchups on Aug. 3, but on Friday some major details of what WWE has planned for Summerslam were revealed by industry reporter Dave Meltzer in a brand new Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

While the company seemed to hint at an upcoming matchup between Cody Rhodes and Bloodline defacto leader Solo Sikoa at Clash at the Castle, Meltzer claims the match is instead expected to happen at Summerslam. Many assumed the bout was being set up for WWE’s next premium live event, Money in the Bank, on July 6.

Logan Paul vs. La Knight is expected to happen at Summerslam 2024

Along with Rhodes vs. Sikoa not going down at Money in the Bank in a couple of weeks, Logan Paul defending his United States title against LA Knight is expected to be held off until Summerslam as well. Over the last few weeks, the groundwork for a feud between Paul and Knight has been set up, which made it seem like a bout at Money in the Bank would be likely.

Both matches could still happen at Summerslam as a rematch, but there is a good chance it will be one or the other, not both.

Along with the news on Cody Rhodes and Logan Paul, Meltzer reported that the expectation is for a long-awaited clash between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre to happen at Summerslam.

“The hope is that Punk vs. McIntyre will take place at SummerSlam on 8/3 in Cleveland, but we were told that as of right now it’s up in the air whether Punk would be ready by that date. It was emphasized to me that he could be ready but it’s not a sure thing,” Meltzer wrote.

Punk said at the Clash at the Castle post-event presser that he was expecting to be cleared to return to the ring this week.
