Rumor Of Former AEW Champ Britt Baker Jumping Ship To WWE Soon Debunked In New Report

There’s a new rumor going around that Britt Baker is leaving AEW for WWE very soon. However, a new report suggests there is no truth to the rumblings in the industry.

It all started when former WWE personality Jonathan Coachman made a big claim on his “Behind the Turnbuckle” podcast linking Baker to a jump to the competition.

“There’s a name ,  a female name ,  out there that is this close to signing with WWE,” Coachman said. “Gone from AEW — close. My sources keep coming to your boy!” he said. “She got buried because she pushed back. She spoke up about what was going on, and in wrestling, you know you can’t do that.”

At first, Coachman didn’t name her, but later confirmed he was talking about Britt Baker. Coachman’s comments sent the wrestling world into a frenzy. Especially since Baker has been missing from AEW TV since late 2024 with no return date in sight.

However, Fightful Select says that it’s not true at all. Britt Baker is not leaving anytime soon, and she has not been in any form of discussion with WWE. Back in 2021, she signed a five-year contract. So she will remain with AEW at least through 2026. And nothing so far really points to WWE pursuing her as well.

Britt Baker’s absence from AEW TV has raised a lot of questions. One of the promotion’s early breakout stars, her time off has led to speculation about creative frustrations behind the scenes. That could be why Coachman thinks there’s more to it.
