Edge & Christian (now going by Cope and Christian Cage) are a part of the AEW roster. Recently, rumors arose regarding an impending reunion for one of the most decorated teams in wrestling history. However, those plans were scrapped because one of the two men wasn’t interested in seeing it happen.
According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful, All Elite Wrestling had originally planned for their reunion. The idea called for Copeland and Cag to team up for a match against FTR at AEW All In Texas. However, those plans might have to wait for a while.
The report indicated that Cage wanted to continue his run with The Patriarchy a bit longer. He has built a compelling faction, and his heel turn has been well-received. Moreover, the recent events on AEW television hint at a possible feud between Cage and his faction cohort, Nick Wayne.
The rising star has been making waves already in the wrestling world. He could gain a significant push with a well-planned feud against his mentor on AEW television. As for Copeland, he has not been seen since the AEW Dynasty pay-per-view a few months ago. On that night, he was viciously assaulted by FTR members, Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood, ending their alliance.
It is expected that the former 11-time World Champion would go after his former allies. Moreover, he would need a partner to combat their threat. So, Christian Cage is the perfect choice for the job. Furthermore, the reunion of Edge and Christian should take place at AEW’s major event later this summer, All Out. It is scheduled for September 20 at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The multi-time tag team champions reuniting in their home country of Canada would make a much bigger impact. In the meantime, Christian Cage would have ample time to continue his run as the leader of the Patriarchy. So it remains to be seen what AEW plans regarding this massive debate.
