It’s time for our SmackDown results for December 27, 2024, and we are wrapping up the blue (brand) year.

Quick Results:
- Bianca Belair, Bayley and Naomi defeat Tiffany Stratton, Nia Jax and Candice LeRae. Another teased cash-in by Tiffy makes me think her time will come soon.
- Braun Strowman is too much for Austin Theory. Remember when Theory was Vince’s “chosen one”?
- Street Profits defeat Los Garzas in what I have to say was a very good match.
- Sami Zayn presumably wins via DQ over Carmelo Hayes. Carmelo was looking for a count out. Braun attempted to drag him back to the ring, and with Sami alone, the Bloodline attacked. Strowman came back out, dropped Hayes and did his best to assist Zayn, but the numbers were too much.
Best Match:
Los Garzas and the Street Profits was exceptional.
Carmelo Hayes and Sami Zayn was really good too.
Worst Match:
None
Holy S!@# Moments:
Maybe I should have figured this one coming, but I did not.
Rhodes gets what he wants-a moment with the fabled Winged Eagle title. Owens is his opponent, the match had plenty of ref bumps, Owens looses, Owens snaps. Owens leaves LI with that Winged Eagle belt and now claims he’s the champ.
So, for one of the big singles matches at the Royal Rumble? Cody versus Kevin, belt for belt, winner take all, in a ladder match. I dig it.
The Bloodline took shots at a solo Sami Zayn, but Zayn had an unexpected ally in Braun Strowman. Of course, not even Strowman could overcome the numbers game.
Noteworthy Moments:
A friendly reminder, this was the last of the two hour SmackDown shows for the near term. With RAW off to Netflix on January 6, the blue brand will have the USANetwork all to itself. As such, we will have three hours of SmackDown.
Every Friday.
Not sure if I am excited about that, but we shall see. I kind of liked being done at 10PM…
We knew the Profits got attacked. The smart money was on Ciampa. And then we find out that Pretty Deadly witnessed it? And, without being afraid of the Profits or the new champs, they announce it was…Garza?!
Then the two teams had a superb match, Pretty Deadly seemed to make friends with both the Profits AND DIY, but then Apollo Crews told the Profits that no, it really was DIY all along.
Lowlights:
Nothing major to complain about really. If I had to say one? I would go with Michin going after Chelsea, keeping that going. As opposed to Green having a defense against someone other than her opponent in the finals.

Highlights:
Good show top to bottom. The Kevin Owens drama ran the whole show and sets up a major Rumble match.
The Bloodline keeps things going.
We had some fun with the “who attacked the Street Profits” story, but ultimately seemingly got closure.
After The Final Bell:
I would have loved ending 2024 for SmackDown with a stunner and a most unusual cash in by Stratton, but not yet. I’d bet we aren’t waiting much longer for it though. Otherwise, WWE is doing solid work hyping a really big Netflix debut, while also getting us excited for the Royal Rumble.
