It is time once again for the RAW results, this time for August 26th, 2024. After tonight, it’s next stop Berlin, because the Bash is this Saturday.

Quick Results:

  • Judgement Day defeat the LWO in an 8 man tag match. After the match, Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest come down to get them some of Dom and Liv ahead of Berlin.
  • Damage CTRL gets the win over Pure Fusion Collective. Zelina Vega assisted Damage CTRL, so it would seem like the Japanese talent are the faces here. Wonder if we get them to bring back their old gear? Pirate princess?
  • Jey Uso beats Karrion Kross and Kofi Kingston to advance in the Intercontinental Championship #1 contender tournament.
  • Big Bronson Reed and Braun Strowman battled to a double count out. Reed walked out, Strowman followed and a brawl to the back ensued. It was a glimpse of what two big men could do, and it was glorious. Not sure the backstage security jobbers agree.
  • Pete Dunne outlasts Xavier Woods and The Miz, punching his ticket to the #1 contender fatal fourway.
  • Uncle Howdy defeats Chad Gable in his RAW debut. The gear is nice, but the wig got in the way a bit, I think. Still a nice match.

Best Match:

I have to give the nod to Pete Dunne’s triple threat. Three guys who deserve a bigger shot, with perhaps one of the ones needing it the most-Dunne-getting it.

Worst Match:

I didn’t hate them, but I felt like the Damage CTRL/Pure Fusion Collective match just didn’t do it for me tonight.

Noteworthy Moments:

New Day survived another week in one piece. No match controversy, unless I missed something. But there was that pesky pre-match promo where Xavier still came off as a bit cranky.

Holy S#$% Moments:

Yes, we did indeed see Bronson Reed leap off the wall onto Strowman. The same Braun who was on the roof of the car. Tsunami on the roof. Crazy spot.

Lowlights:

I know WWE wants things to go off between Damage CTRL and Pure Fusion Collective, but for the moment, it isn’t going anywhere. Fans are not getting into this. Something, or someone, is missing.

Highlights:

Reed and Strowman predictably ended in a double count out, but how they did it was a sight to see. It protects both Superstars, and allows for a larger match down the road.

The two #1 contender matches were good to great. I think the one we probably expected more out of was good, but the other exceeded my wildest expectations. OK, maybe not quite, but it was really good. Will they go with Jey or Pete against Bron? Or is the next challenger yet to be found?

And a nice tribute on RAW for Sycho Sid. The video package, some references by a Superstar or two. Top notch.

Really good RAW as the go-home edition. Not like, supremely awesome, but good for what it was. It’s going to be interesting to see how the Bash plays out and sets us up for what figures to be a busy last few months of 2024. Yes, I really did say last few months of the year.
