Just last month, WWE Tribute to the Troops seemed dead, but could the yearly tradition live again in its original form?
The show has been a WWE fixture for a couple of decades and It was an idea spawned by none other than WWE legend JBL. Tribute to the Troops was always a way for WWE and its Superstars to do something for American servicemen and women.

First, it was a special, taped at a base somewhere around the world. Later, it was a themed arena show. And in 2024, it was gone. Some rumors indicated early in December that the show, in any form, was done. Now we are hearing that reports of the special’s demise may be premature.
WWE Tribute to the Troops could eventually return
According to the ever-reliable WrestleVotes account on the former X, there is reason for optimism. And, if you liked the original format, there might be a reason for a lot of optimism. Per the report, the show concept is not dead and mothballed. That it did not run in 2024 is still an odd happening. But there is a belief that the show will run again in some form or fashion.
In recent years, it was a themed RAW or SmackDown. WWE would bring in a slew of service members and run a generally typical television show. That may be a thing of the past. And if the report is true, I am excited.
The original concept? Take a WWE ring and set it up somewhere around the globe where our military is deployed. Fly out a number of WWE talents. Run a bunch of matches. Record those matches, edit it all together and you have a nice holiday special.
And, while WWE has done a lot of double shows to tape episodes around the holidays, giving Superstars and staff some extra (and deserved) days off the road? Things like the original Tribute to the Troops were run around the holidays, filling in that gap and giving talent a show-off.
So, fans of the show? Be optimistic. And if you weren’t a fan of it in any form? I don’t have much to tell you other than, well, the show isn’t dead and buried yet.
