VIDEO: Did New TNA World Champ Joe Hendry Just Callout WWE Legend John Cena?

Could we get a wild crossover match between new TNA Wrestling world champ Joe Hendry and WWE icon John Cena in 2025? The Scottish star made his intentions known this week.

Last year was a massive 12 months in the career of Joe Hendry. He had been a respected name on the indies over the last few years. However, his wildly popular theme song put a huge spotlight on him and he made the most of the opportunities given to him in 2024.

After a very productive year that included expanding his brand to WWE audiences via NXT, Hendry kicked off 2025 in a way that set it up to be even more successful than 2024. Over the weekend, he faced current TNA Wrestling Champion Nic Nemeth in the main event of their Genesis event. After a hard-fought match, the fast-rising star achieved his ultimate goal and now holds the top title in the promotion.

Following his monumental win, Joe Hendry was a guest on a new edition of “Busted Open Radio.” When asked about the idea of potential matchups as the new champion, the 36-year-old had a bold response.

TNA champ Joe Hendry hoping for a matchup with John Cena in 2025

“I have done all the things I thought would be impossible,” he began by saying. “But in an era where anything can happen, and just before Genesis, Triple H tweeted us, Shawn Michaels tweeted the show, and John Cena who hadn’t tweeted about it before, tweeted the TNA logo on his Instagram.

“What kind of representative would I be for TNA if I didn’t call out John Cena?”

Cena kicked off his retirement tour two weeks ago and his next appearance is expected to be at the 2025 Royal Rumble. During his final year in the industry, anything is possible. And now that WWE and TNA officially have a working relationship, a match isn’t completely out of the question.

However, with John Cena having a limited amount of dates, it would be surprising if the company used some of those valuable bullets by giving a major rub to a wrestler who is not under contract to the company.
