Now that both of them have been released, we are hearing that we missed out on a Steveson brothers WrestleMania match.

At one point, the pair were both WWE signings. Bobby Steveson and Gable Steveson both were accomplished college and amateur athletes. That got WWE interested in the pair. Both were signed to the company in 2021. Of course, of the two, their paths to and in WWE were very different. Bobby was renamed Damon Kemp and actually worked more than one match for the company. However, all of his action came in NXT. Gable Steveson got signed to much fanfare, thanks in part to his Olympic gold medal. He made several main roster appearances-he even got a WrestleMania moment. He worked a single televised match against Baron Corbin in NXT. Fittingly, that match ended in a no contest.
And then within months, both were gone
During his tumultuous time in WWE, a lot was said about Gable Steveson. First it was that he wasn’t learning fast enough. Then it was some injury concern. Ultimately, his athletic gifts did not translate into WWE stardom and he was cut. His release was a big deal. But, when Damon Kemp’s time in WWE came to an end, it was not. Honestly, I was on vacation when it happened and the news completely missed my radar.
When I saw Kemp in NXT, he impressed me a fair bit. I expected that he would stick around a good bit. Maybe not a few titles on RAW or SmackDown, but I thought a solid career on the main roster was entirely possible. Yet, after four years with the company, his time came to an end. And on a recent podcast appearance, we learned that with both brothers now gone, the moves could mean we’ve forever missed a Steveson brothers WrestleMania match. Per Bobby, that was at least discussed as a possibilty at some point.

Knowing that Gable was taking longer to grasp the business, the releases made sense. But, knowing that there have been persistent rumors of a future WrestleMania in Minnesota? And the brothers are from the state. Imagine their pride if they could have been on a WrestleMania card from their home state? Of course, there is not yet a scheduled date for that rumored future show. It is possible that both men get another chance with WWE, and a Steveson brothers WrestleMania match could still happen.
