Shane McMahon has weighed in on rumors that his father, Vince McMahon, wants to regain control of WWE, and he did little to quiet the chatter.
“Well, he owns a big part of TKO [Group Holdings] still. So, you never know what’s going to happen there either. I am not trying to be vague. I am just saying anything can happen,” he told TMZ Sports.
That certainly isn’t a confirmation that his dear old dad and the WWE founder, is indeed trying to get his creation back. However, it was his responses to other questions the outlet asked that indirectly fanned the flames of a plot to regain control.

When asked about other rumblings that he and his father were looking into forming an all-new wrestling promotion, Shane McMahon offered up a definitive response.
“You never know what’s going to happen out there. And anything can happen in WWE. But those rumors are false,” said McMahon.
Shane McMahon is no longer interested in jumping to AEW?
Well, what about AEW? He famously had a meeting with company CEO Tony Khan last year. Is joining WWE’s top competitor still a possibility? It sure seems like that is not an option anymore either.
“I had a meeting with AEW, and wish them continued success. But it’s not WWE. It’s not the company I helped build,” he said. “But you never know what’s going to happen in this business.”

So, the father and son duo are not working on a new promotion. And Shane has seemingly cooled off on the idea of jumping to AEW. There have been reports that Vince is planning to start a new production company for different endeavors in show business. However, he has tried ventures outside wrestling in the past with little to no success.
The elder McMahon knows what he was great at. Wanting a return to the company he turned into a billion-dollar global brand is plausible. And his son’s comments on Saturday did little to quiet the rumblings that he is plotting a return after resigning a second time in 2023 due to a sex trafficking lawsuit.
