In somewhat of a surprise move that not many knew, Michael Cole re-signs with WWE and here is what we know on his decision.

When comes to calling WWE action at the announce table, Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler were staples for decades. Time has passed and neither call action anymore for WWE. Ross joined AEW and works sporadically on TV. Lawler remains with WWE under a legends deal, but his days at ringside might be over following a stroke. During the hight of Ross and Lawler, there were other names.

The only person who lasted was Michael Cole. And, he will seemingly be around longer. Bryan Curtis of The Ringer spoke to Cole ahead of SummerSlam. During the interview, we learned Cole signed a new contract with WWE during the spring. He did not provide details, like length and/or how much, but he will remains with WWE for the foreseeable future. “The first 24 years, Michael Cole was out here,” said Cole. “I was playing a broadcaster. The last three years, that’s who you’re seeing. That personality I’m bringing out now is who I really am. I’m bombastic, I’m sarcastic, I’m a prick. But, I’m also a hell of a good broadcaster.”

In 1997, Cole joined WWE and he often was made into a joke. The likes of Steve Austin and The Rock verbally and psychically assaulted Cole. About 13 years ago, WWE let Cole turn heel for a bit. It culminated in a disqualification victory over Lawler at WrestleMania with Austin as the special referee. Lately, we are seeing a more optimistic Cole with Corey Graves and/or Pat McAfee.

In recent years, Cole has taken a smaller role in WWE. He is still involved the product, but others are helping groom the future commentators. It is amazing how Cole went from disliked to somewhat of a favorite. Clearly, his dedication and loyalty is a reason for sticking around. So, are you happy to see Michael Cole re-signs with WWE?
