Could Matt Hardy make a surprise appearance on an episode of NXT? The “Broken” one hints that could be possible very soon.
Over the weekend, NXT delivered its latest premium live event, Battleground. While the WWE developmental league has built some strong momentum over the last year, the event had a lot of buzz around it since it included a women’s title match featuring TNA Knockouts Champion Jordynne Grace.
Grace’s match with NXT Women’s Champ Roxanne Perez was one of the best on the card, but after Perez successfully defended her thrown, many wondered if the relationship between WWE and TNA would continue any further. Well, that may have been hinted at on this week’s episode of the show.
WWE Undisptured Champ Cody Rhodes made a special appearance on NXT this week and had a fun interaction with NXT king Trick Williams. During their segment, Rhodes revealed that a 25-man battle royale next week will decide Williams’ next title challenger. And that some of the participants may be “from different locker rooms.”
Matt Hardy hints at being in next week’s NXT No.1 contender battle royale
That statement created a wild amount of speculation about who might show up in the match from TNA, or perhaps even other companies. WWE legend Matt Hardy seized the moment and following the reveal took to his X account to suggest maybe he might be one of the participants in the battle royale.
“After I PROCURE the TNA Title of the World on Friday, I might just DELETE 24 OBNOXIOUS ANTS & also become the NXT Champion,” Hardy wrote.
Hardy will challenge TNA World Champion Moose at Friday’s Against All Odds pay-per-view event. The former AEW talent is working on a short-term deal with TNA and has suggested he would be interested in a return to WWE for one final run. This relationship between the two companies could offer a best-of-both-worlds situation for Matt Hardy.
