The legendary Dead Man is very much retired now, but the one match The Undertaker would return for might surprise you.

He is an icon, a legend, a Phenom. WWE fans the world over adore The Undertaker, and looking at his Hall of Fame career, it is easy to see why. His entrances were can’t-miss-television, and he stands as one of the last “larger than life” character Superstars. His formal farewell was, unfortunately, in the midst of a global pandemic-when we saw him leave his gear in the middle of the ring at the Performance Center edition of Survivor Series. He has made some cameos from time to time, most recently at WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia.

But he would return for one match

Speaking on a recent edition of his podcast, he noted that there is just one match that he would come out of retirement for. And the one he’d do again might really surprise you. On the show with his sometimes tag team partner, Kane, he made the reveal. The Undertaker would return, for one more match, if it meant that he and Kane got a do-over against Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Specifically, the horrific match the four put on at Crown Jewel several years back.

That was a match that, considering the years of experience, should have been well done. But, considering that HBK had been very retired. Triple H wasn’t far off. And both of the Brothers of Destruction were on the downside, it was a disaster. Hunter tore his pec, botches were seen all over, and given too much run time, it bored fans. It was probably the worst match in any of the four Superstar’s careers.

And, as the Dead Man put it, that’s the one match, the singular match up, that he would come out of retirement for. He wants to see, or would want to see, if there is any way they could possibly do it any worse than they did at Crown Jewel. The reality is that this probably can’t and won’t happen. Sure, Undertaker and Kane could likely work. Shawn might be able to too. However, Triple H is basically medically retired. And given his position within the company and health issues, that doesn’t seem likely to change.
