A current member of the WWE roster revealed that they were once in line to take over the moniker of The Fiend and use it in a feud with Bray Wyatt.
Bray Wyatt was one of the most creative minds in the history of WWE. The man once known as Husky Harris went through several evolutions during his time in the company. In NXT, he created the Wyatt character and formed the legendary Wyatt Family faction that also had solid success on the main roster.
He would later shed that skin and become a character that hosted a creepy kids TV show called the “Firefly Funhouse.” And then morph into an alter ego known only as The Fiend for his matches. The “Funhouse” and The Fiend’s entrance were some of the best content and visuals developed by the company before and after the pandemic.
Wyatt was released from WWE in 2021. But eventually made his return a year later and debuted another version of his character that was more deeply rooted in the person he truly was. It no longer included the beloved “Firefly Funhouse” series or the horrifying Fiend.
However, before his tragic passing in 2023, there were rumblings that The Fiend might make a return in a new form. Well, it seems there was truth to those rumors and that none other than Karrion Kross was in line to become a new version of the character.
Could Karrion Kross revive The Fiend character against Wyatt Sicks?
“I remember one story that Windham [Bray Wyatt] and a fellow named Nick Manfredini — he was an incredible writer with WWE. They were writing for me, and they ran it by me to see if I would like it,” Kross recalled about the idea in a chat with Adrian Hernandez recently. “At one point, they wrote this thing where I was in a church queue. And it seemed like I was confessing to someone behind the other side of the door. Like how you see in horror movies and stuff like that. And you couldn’t see my face, and there was a monologue.
“And I don’t want to say what the monologue was because maybe there’s a way to get to it. Maybe there’s a place for it. But by the end of it, I leaned forward. Windham and Nick wanted me to have the Fiend mask on. And there was an idea out there that they were coming up with where Windham would have to overcome, or Bray Wyatt would have to overcome, that side of him that he didn’t want to get near. So that was that was a cool concept.”
Kross claimed that there were even conversations of having something attached to his shoulder similar to the Venom symbiote in the recent Sony/Marvel films. Furthermore, he is open to getting back to that idea to be the villain the Wyatt Sicks “deserve.” Because he revealed he enjoyed the short feud he had with the faction last year.
