John Cena’s 17th World Title Win Achieved Rare Feat Never Before Seen In WWE

John Cena shattered one of the most prestigious records in WWE history at WrestleMania 41. In doing so, he also quietly earned another equally rare accolade.

The “Cenation” Leader used underhanded moves to dethrone Cody Rhodes and become the new Undisputed WWE Champion on Night 2 of WrestleMania 41. With his win, Cena won his 17th world title and broke the record set by Ric Flair many years ago. The” Last Real Champion’s” win was questionable, but it will go down in the WWE history books. Interestingly, Cena’s victory also led to him etching a rare record that many did not take note of.

With his win at WrestleMania 41, he became the only superstar to hold every version of the WWE Championship since 2005. The road to this rare record began twenty years prior when Cena defeated JBL at WrestleMania 21 to win the title for the first time. In doing so, he won the former Undisputed version of the belt that was active from 2002-2005.

Following that, former “Mr. Hustle Loyalty and Respect” introduced his own version of the title, which came to be known as the Spinner belt. In 2013, Cena defeated The Rock to win the championship at WrestleMania 29. He held the title belt introduced by “The Final Boss” that same year in favor of the spinner title Cena brought into existence in 2005.

Furthermore, John Cena held the previous version of the WWE title before the current design that was introduced in 2014. He defeated AJ Styles at the 2017 Royal Rumble event and etched his 16th World title reign in the process.

Finally, after defeating Cody Rhodes this year at WrestleMania, Cena now holds the gold version of the WWE Championship. His first title defense will take place this Saturday against Randy Orton at WWE Backlash.
