ECW Icon Sabu Takes Major Shots At WWE Hall of Fame, Inclusion Of ‘Price Is Right’ Host Drew Carey

ECW legend Sabu explains his lack of respect for the WWE Hall of Fame because of having people like “Price Is Right” host Drew Carey in it.

ECW, WWE, and TNA veteran Sabu had a decorated career, but he probably will not accept the honor of being inducted into their Hall of Fame one day. He does not have a favorable opinion of the institution, and he made that perfectly clear in a recent interview with the “Donut Shop Chronicles.”

As weird as it may sound to casual observers, Sabu’s gripe against the Hall relates to the stand-up comedian and daytime game show host Drew Carey. It’s been a long time and many may forget, but Carey has appeared on WWE television in the past.

He was a notorious celebrity entrant in the 2001 Royal Rumble where he tried to pay Kane not to hurt him before eliminating himself. Carey was inducted into the celebrity wing of the HOF, which includes such names as Pete Rose and Donald Trump, in 2011.

Sabu claimed he is not eligible for WWE Hall-of-Fame induction

“I’m not eligible for the WWE Hall of Fame, not that I want to be anyway, because I didn’t have a Hall of Fame career while I was there. Another Hall of Fame, who knows,” Sabu said.

The ECW great is a bonafide international sensation and admitted he appreciates long-time fans feeling he deserves a spot in the WWE HOF. However, he has swayed his opinion and he doubled down on his critique, bringing Carey into the conversation.

“Rob Van Dam is Hall of Fame material too, but is Drew Carey? Is Drew Carey Hall of Fame material? He goes in it, that means it’s going to be bullshit. If he’s in it, it’s bullshit.” said the “suicidal, homicidal, genocidal” ECW legend.

Sabu’s old partner RVD went into the Hall in 2021. On a related note, ECW’s promoter and their old boss Paul Heyman went in last year. With HOF inductions being a staple of WrestleMania weekend, and the event around the corner, Sabu might be persuaded to change his tune in 2025.
