Whenever Rob Van Dam does decide to have a farewell retirement match, the “Whole F’n Show” now has three dream opponents in mind for that moment.
Before Rob Van Dam became a legend in WWE he was a show-stealer for ECW. The former ECW Television Champion has cultivated a legion of fans during his amazing career and is surprisingly still an active competitor at 53 years old.

However, while the one-time WWE World Champion has made some recent appearances for promotions like AEW, every career eventually comes to an end. While RVD is probably still a few years away from a traditional retirement match, there are some opponents he has in mind for when the time comes.
During a recent edition of his “1 Of A Kind With RVD” podcast, fans asked about a retirement match and suggested ECW greats Tommy Dreamer, Sabu, and Van Dam’s one-time WWE tag team partner Booker T as opponents. And RVD would be all for every one of those suggestions.
Rob Van Dam has doubts about retirement match against Sabu
“Yes to all of it, I think that would be cool,” Van Dam said [h/t Inside the Ropes]. That would be cool under the right conditions. I would love to work with Dreamer, Booker, or [Sabu].”
Rob Van Dam and Sabu were a part of a legendary tag team and matches in ECW. One final fight between them would appeal to many long-time wrestling fans. However, RVD revealed that Sabu is surprisingly not keen on that piece of fan-booking.
“Sabu is talking about having one more match. We talked about it the other night. He’s got different ideas and stuff, but he thinks that having just a match with me would be too easy,” he said “… It’s a match the people have seen a lot, and maybe that’s too simple as opposed to Sabu’s last match being against [Keiji] Muto or something like that. Then it would be a much different kind of appeal.”
