The 2024 edition of SummerSlam is a pretty stacked card. Thanks to the SmackDown prior to the biggest party of the summer, we know that Cody Rhodes versus Solo Sikoa will be the main event. We also know that the main event will be our second Bloodline Rules match of the year. On the last blue brand show before SummerSlam, Rhodes once again referred to Solo as a wannabe Tribal Chief, mocking his challenger.

But, it wasn’t the first time he took shots at the challenger or the Bloodline. Earlier, during an ESPN interview, the American Nightmare went a bit further. He called Sikoa a pretender, but he didn’t stop there. Rhodes also took a shot at The Rock, which may or may not have been more foundation being set for a potential epic battle at WrestleMania in Las Vegas next year.

Is That The Plan?

Ever since things went crazy with the return of The Rock and the crazy changes between the 2024 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40 in Philadelphia, there have been arguably two matches people eye for the next big show. One would be The Rock versus Roman Reigns, for the head of the table. The other, which was set up with the segment on the post-‘Mania RAW. That would be The People’s Champ and the American Nightmare.

Whether we get it or not is anyone’s guess. A lot can happen between August and April. We saw it with The Rock and the changes to this year’s Showcase of the Immortals. It doesn’t take much to throw things into chaos. But, based on how things worked out, I think most fans would agree that we benefited. So, there may be a whiteboard or a password protected document that only a few WWE executives have seen. And that may show plans for a Rock/Rhodes clash in Sin City. We don’t know, and we won’t know for some time still.

But we do know that Rhodes is laying that foundation, and putting down Solo Sikoa in the process. Anyone who thought the big win by Cody in Philly would end the Bloodline? They’d be very disappointed with how 2024 has gone. But getting Cody Rhodes and The Rock in 2025? That’s exciting.
