Major Update On CM Punk Vs. Steve Austin Dream Match Potentially Happening At WrestleMania 41

While most expect a matchup between CM Punk and Seth Rollins to take place at WrestleMania 41, the door may now be open to a CM Punk vs. Steve Austin dream match happening instead.

CM Punk is back in WWE and it feels so good. “The Cult of Personality” made his shocking return to the company late last year and the WWE legend is looking to add some new memorable chapters to the story of his history in the company.

Right now he is in the midst of a very entertaining feud with former World Heavyweight Champion Drew McIntyre. But eventually, that will end and he will move on to more fun rivalries and check some dream matches off his final WWE run bingo card.

Even before he had his falling out with the company a decade ago, there were rumors of him having a potential match with one of his wrestling idols, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. When Punk was at the height of his popularity and the company’s champion, he even had a shared interview with the “Texas Rattlesnake” that seemed to lay the groundwork for a potential clash.

Alas, that dream match never came to pass. But, there may now be a chance it could happen in the near future.

CM Punk again angles for dream match with Steve Austin

On Saturday night, CM Punk took part in a Q&A at the Fanatics Fest event in New York and the idea of a match with Steve Austin was brought up. And he had an unsurprising response.

“It’s not up to me, because I think he had a pretty good return,” he started by saying. Came back, main evented Wrestlemania; at this point, his six shooters may be buried in the Nevada desert. But, if he wants to dig them up, I’m your huckleberry. It should have happened 10-plus years ago but if he wants to go to sleep he can call me.”

What makes this all the more interesting is Austin recently revealed he is very interested in being at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas. Since it is not far from his current home. And even after his match with Kevin Owens at Wrestlemania 38, he seemed open to the idea of another match.

This is the sort of clash that can only happen at a Wrestlemania. Punk is finally back with the company and the hindrances to the match happening before — likely Vince McMahon — are gone. If both are interested, it would be foolish not to make it happen next April.
