When Tony Khan was putting 2024 together, I do not think he envisioned the current product. Swerve Strickland went from a heel, who broke into the home of a fellow wrestler, into a top babyface. The run saw Strickland become AEW Champion until dropping the title to Bryan Danielson at last month’s All In. Then, it was followed with a loss to “Hangman” Adam Page in a match many called too much with the absurd spots.

Remember, Strickland was a member of the WWE roster before being let go. Initially, he was part of the cruiserweight division and then with Hit Row for a bit. Basically, he was in one of the many mass releases WWE took part in when times looked bleak. He joined AEW and there is not need to look back at the past.

Chris Jericho Thanks Highly Of These Two AEW Wrestlers

While talking to Sports Illustrated, Chris Jericho questioned how WWE could let Swerve Strickland join the competition. “This is only his first time as champ and look what he’s doing,” said Jericho. “Wait until the second time and the third time and the fourth time. He has star written all over him. I don’t know how you could ever let that guy go. Swerve and MJF are two guys I watch and always think, how did he pull that off?”

For Jericho, his time in AEW is getting stale. Fans do not like “The Learning Tree” gimmick and there have been calls for Jericho to retire. Although, he has shown little interest. Swerve is taking a short hiatus following back-to-back losses. So, is Chris Jericho right that WWE blew-it by letting Swerve Strickland go to AEW?
