Bryan Danielson created a legendary legacy in WWE. However, the man formerly known as Daniel Bryan seems to have zero interest in returning to those iconic roots, ever.

“The American Dragon” Bryan Danielson is just a couple of weeks away from what could be his last match for a very long time. It has been no secret that his original AEW contract is set to expire soon and he is expected to transition to a backstage role and no longer be a full-time competitor.

It has led to many questions about his career, his future, and his lasting legacy as he makes the media rounds ahead of his match at AEW All In later this month. During a recent conversation with the “Gorilla Position” podcast, Danielson was asked if he would be open to a return to WWE one day, or induction into their Hall-of-Fame. Shockingly, it seems he has an interest in neither.

“I would never say never, but it would have to be in a situation where I felt going back would benefit the industry,” he said (h/t Wrestling Republic). “For example, if in 10 years something drastically changed with their creative process and AEW had completely taken over, making it a one-sided business, then I might consider it.

“But I love where I am now. I’m also not under contract, so realistically, I just want to be free. As for a Hall of Fame ring or other accolades, I have no interest in those. None whatsoever.”

Those comments will certainly disappoint many long-time Bryan Danielson fans who became devoted supporters due to his legendary run in WWE. It is also surprising because he is one of the few performers who didn’t have negative comments after leaving the promotion for AEW.

It looks like we may never see Daniel Bryan lead one last “Yes!” chant in a WWE ring.
