WWE Evolution 2018: WrestleNewz Staff Prediction

WWE Evolution 2018: WrestleNewz Staff Prediction

October is basically done and WWE makes history later tonight with the ever all-female pay per view titled Evolution.

Seven matches have been booked for the show and we here at Wrestlenewz felt the urge to predict the card, like every other wrestling fan. We gave it our best attempt and down below is what the staff came up with. Don’t forget to add your own predictions in our comments section. Let’s see if anyone correctly predicts all seven matches.

Evolution play by play coverage is being handled by WrestleNewz and the pre-show begins at around 6 PM EST with the main card at 7 PM EST. We’ll also have the fallout, so stay tuned.

RAW Women’s Championship: Nikki Bella vs. Ronda Rousey

Dorathy: Bella. I’m predicting a bit of swerve here, because let’s face it, Rousey could easily demolish Nikki. I think Bella will win the match and title to continue this program to round out 2018. Who knows? Nattie may jump on the Bellas’ side and turn on Ronda too.

Joe: Ronda Rousey. WWE has done so much to build Rousey, I don’t see her losing in the foreseeable future. That won’t happen until closer to WrestleMania, if not later.

John: I expect a Rousey win, but not a clean one. The match will end in a DQ most likely, with Brie (or someone else) helping Nikki attack Ronda Rousey.

Last Woman Standing Match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship: Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch

Dorathy: Lynch. This has been an incredible program, but it is time for both Charlotte and Becky to move on.

Joe: Becky Lynch. I see the finish having both women down for a 10 count and Becky somehow makes it to her feet before the count of 10 to keep the title. Then, Becky falls to the floor, but it doesn’t matter as the match is over.

John: It has to be Becky here, right? I think so…but the one thing I do wonder is, does this match have interference from say, a few other Horsewomen? There are rumors of a Survivor Series match, and it would be one way to set it up while also, at least temporarily, re-uniting Flair and Lynch.

NXT Women’s Championship: Shayna Baszler vs. Kairi Sane

Dorathy: Sane. I think it’s Baszler’s time to be called up to the main roster, her pal Rousey may need some back up.

Joe: Kairi Sane. It’s time for Shayna Baszler to join the main roster that only happens by losing the NXT Women’s Championship rematch.

John: I thought Baszler would have been called up by now…but I actually think maybe she reclaims the belt here.

2018 Mae Young Classic Finals: Toni Storm vs. Io Shirai

Dorathy: Storm. I like what I’ve seen from Toni and I think she’s going to take this all the way.

Joe: Toni Storm. This is a guess because I honestly have not been keeping up with the Mae Young Classic. It just seems like WWE has mentioned Storm more than Io Shirai on their website.

John: Either would be a good choice and I think both women have bright futures in WWE. I think Storm makes more sense now, however.

Battle Royal for a Future Title Shot: Zelina Vega, Torrie Wilson, Asuka, Mandy Rose, Sonya Deville, Lana, Carmella, Naomi, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Ember Moon, Nia Jax, Dana Brooke, Alicia Fox, Tamina Snuka, Michelle McCool, Kelly Kelly, Maria Kanellis, Molly Holly, Ivory and Alundra Blayze

Dorathy: This one’s really hard to predict, but I’m going with a surprise NXT call up for the win.

Joe: Nia Jax. With battle royals, it’s basically a guessing game. I don’t see anyone from the past or NXT winning, so I stuck to the main roster. Nia has no major storyline at the moment, but could get a future title shot with a quick win tonight.

John: This is a tough one. Carmella could be a sleeper here…while she’s NOT from NYC (New England is close but), she could have a bit of a home crowd. Beyond her…I kind of think it’s time to give one of Billie Kay or Peyton Royce some exposure. Could also be how they get Baszler to the main roster.

Mickie James & Alicia Fox  vs. Lita & Trish Stratus

Dorathy: WWE Hall of Famers. I have a feeling Bliss won’t be able to compete on Sunday, due to her concussion, so that means a clear win for Stratus and Lita.

Joe: Lita & Trish Stratus. The match has fallen to pieces without Alexa Bliss and the WWE Hall of Famers should get the win for that feel good moment. It will be interesting to see if Trish and Lita start wrestling more matches for WWE going forward.

John: With Alexa out of this one, it makes more sense than ever to have Trish and Lita win. Give the fans a feel good moment, plus with rumors of women’s tag titles coming….it just makes sense.

Natalya, Bayley and Sasha Banks vs. The Riott Squad

Dorathy: Crazy Cat Lady, the Boss, The Hugger. Team Face for the win!

Joe: The Riott Squad. Lately, The Riott Squad have been picking up some serious wins and I think this is the moment when Sasha Banks finally turns on Bayley.

John: It’s good to have a strong heel faction. And while Riott Squad seem more like juvenile pranksters than hard core heels….they suffice and get the win here.
