Vince McMahon Resigns From WWE Over Sex Trafficking Claims

A civil suit against Vince McMahon, where he and John Laurinitis are accused of sex trafficking, was broken by The Wall Street Journal and gained lots of attention in a short time.

A big question was how Vince could continue to be part of WWE and serve on the TKO Board of Directors. It seemed challenging to fire him and that will not be needed.

Sean Ross Sapp reported how WWE President Nik Khan sent out a memo about the future of the company.

I wanted to inform you that Vince McMahon has tendered his resignation from his positions as TKO Executive Chairman and on the TKO Board of Directors,” wrote Khan. “He will no longer have a role with TKO Group Holdings or WWE.”

The fall from the top is astonishing. A few years ago, he was credited for making pro wrestling such a success.

Vince McMahon Remains Defiant

Now, he will be remembered for the accusations, which he continues to deny.

“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth,” said McMahon in a statement. “I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.”

“However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.”

In the court files, Janel Grant said she had to deal with sexual abuse and other heinous acts.

Remember, McMahon retired briefly before strong-arming his weight back. He sold WWE less than a year ago and as mostly been met with negative news.
