Tyson Fury Vs. Braun Strowman Being Planned For Crown Jewel

Friday’s SmackDown was a special one as the brand officially moved to Fox. There were plenty of names in attendance, including MMA’s Cain Velasquez and boxing’s Tyson Fury. Both made their presence felt, with Velasquez going after new WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and Fury having to be separated by security as he went for Braun Strowman.

We already know that Fury will be present on RAW to address what took place on SmackDown. During the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned how WWE plans on Fury vs. Strowman taking place at Crown Jewel.

Since the incident at SmackDown, Fury responded with the following video and below that is a transcription.

“I was insulted in front of my whole family by Braun Strowman,” said Fury. “It got a little bit heated and we saw what happened, so I’ve been invited to an open mic session on Monday Night RAW. I accept. I’ll be there, but if Braun Strowman doesn’t behave himself, he’ll get some of these hands. You big dosser!”

The English boxer stands six foot, nine inches and holds a record of 30-0 with one draw coming from Deontay Wilder. The 30 year old has finished 20 of his opponents by way of knockout and is known for his upbeat attitude.

Crown Jewel is October 31 and is part of Saudi Arabia’s 10 year deal with WWE. The show will come from the King Fahd International Stadium. As of now, the only other bout confirmed is a 10 person tag team with WWE Hall of Famers Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan captioning each team.

NXT’s Mae Young Classic Returning For Another Year?

-For the last couple years, NXT has provided a great showcase for many female wrestlers. The Mae Young Classic debuted in 2017, and has introduced us to a number of main roster talents, as well as several on both the NXT and NXT: UK brands.

The winner of the first Mae Young Classic is current WWE Superstar Kairi Sane. Her opponent, and the first runner-up, is current NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler.

In 2018, the second edition of the Mae Young Classic culminated with a final match at WWE Evolution, the all-women PPV. Toni Storm, now a mainstay of NXT: UK, was victorious in the 2018 iteration.

The two tournaments have introduced WWE fans to numerous other Superstars-names like Mia Yim, Sarah Logan, Rhea Ripley, Dakota Kai, Bianca Belair, Lacey Evans and Io Sharai-to name but a few-have used the Mae Young Classic as a bit of a coming out party.

The event has been a great showcase for emerging talent in the women’s ranks, and with WWE shining a spotlight on the women more and more, the Classic has been a bit of a pipeline. With this in mind, a 2019 version seemed to be a sure bet.

Recently, it appeared that the NXT Ticketing website was selling tickets for the 2019 edition, for November 2nd and 3rd. This would have been exciting news…except Fightful reached out for a comment, and the current report indicates that the advertisement was in error.

Fans will no doubt hope that the error was simply finding the event via ticketing, instead of a more appropriate formal announcement.
