There’s been a ton of controversy surrounding the WWE’s decision to boot Cody Rhodes out of his main event match at WrestleMania 40 against Roman Reigns, only to replace him with The Rock. Many have wondered if Triple H was in the know before booking the 2024 Royal Rumble, and as it turns out, a report is stating he was.
Triple H Was In The Loop Before Choosing Cody Rhodes To Win The Royal Rumble
There’s still a ton of hate on The Rock for snagging Rhode’s WrestleMania 40 spot. After he won the Royal Rumble, fans were expecting him to “finish the story” and face the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns at the company’s flagship event.
After the big event, most within the company were expecting Cody Rhodes to challenge Reigns for the title at WM 40. Sadly, The Rock ended up taking his spot.
Reports indicate that only a select few from the WWE knew about The Rock signing to do a match, in early January. This was part of his “deal” to join TKO’s Board of Directors.

As such, many questioned if HHH was in the know. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, he most certainly was.
Triple H Knew Before 2024 Royal Rumble Booking
According to a tweet from Dave Meltzer on X, Paul “Triple H” Levesque was in the loop about The Rock’s deal with TKO for a match. See above post.

As per the tweet above, Dave writes, “My buddy Jay told me that since his tweets are private I probably should note that the idea that Paul Levesque didn’t know about Rock’s signing with the company and him wrestling Reigns when he booked the Rumble is clearly not the case. He knew exactly what he was doing.”
