A Shad Gaspard Memorial Cup has been announced to honor the late WWE superstar who sadly passed away while being a hero.
Shad Gaspard Memorial Cup Announced
In May 2020, the pro wrestling world lost Shad Gaspard. He was only 39 years old.
At the time, he was swimming in the ocean with his son. Something happened and the waves dragged his son under water.
Shad acted fast and saved his son’s life. Unfortunately, he did not survive and his body was found a few days later.
WWE honored Shad with the Warrior Award at the 2022 Hall of Fame. The award is given to those who have done something brave outside of the pro wrestling ring.
Now, a day after Shad’s birthday, we learned some big plans are happening. Basically, it all began with former WWE and TNA wrestler, “Da Pope” Elijah Burke.
The video sees Burke talk about giving “the ultimate gift” as a father. He then confirmed the first-ever Shad Gaspard Memorial Cup Tournament on April 20.
Love Alive Charity, which Burke founded, will be holding the event. He continued how the tournament will allow those involved to “let out our inner beast.”
The good cause was approved by Siliana Gaspard, who is the widow of Shad.
As of now, not too many details have been released, like the participants or price for admission. In time, we will learn more about this awesome event.
In WWE, Shad spent basically his entire career with JTG as part of Cryme Tyme. They even worked with John Cena for a few months.
The first run lasted about five years until the team was released in 2007. They returned briefly between 2008-2010 and had a short feud/
It is tragic what happened to Shad, but it is nice to see his memory continues.
So, will the Shad Gaspard Memorial Cup become a yearly tradition?
