Royal Rumble Main Event Speculation + WrestleMania Main Event?

‘-With the Royal Rumble just a few weeks away, we should be getting plenty of rumors and speculation, along with news. As Superstars begin to announce they are entering the Rumble, the card begins to take shape. The Wrestling Observer is now reporting which match is expected to headline.

Currently, it appears likely that the women’s match will headline for the second straight year. No word yet on the basis for the decision, and of course nothing is assured at this point. The card is, of course, subject to change. If the women’s Rumble match does indeed end up as the main event again, it could purely be based on merit. Last year’s match being the headliner made sense for two reasons: first, because it was history. Second, because Ronda Rousey was making her debut to close the show.

Whether WWE has a similarly stunning surprise planned to close the 2019 Royal Rumble remains to be seen.

-In recent weeks, we’ve had no shortage of discussions surrounding the main event for WrestleMania. Long before Roman Reigns stepped away to battle leukemia, there had been discussion of Reigns and Lesnar, among other possibilities. Once Roman was out of the picture, other scenarios were floated. Some included Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar. Others involved Braun Strowman. Most recently, fan support and rumors have leaned toward a women’s main event, possibly Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.

With the big event still several months away, nothing is etched in stone. The card can and has changed on short notice, but for now, it appears that WWE is also favoring a women’s main event. That news, courtesy of the Observer, did not go on to indicate which of the expected women’s matches could get the nod. That there are several quality options to choose from is a good thing.
