
WWE are allowing their wrestlers to enjoy the upcoming holidays by taping their New Year’s Eve episode early. Below are results from Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena, which will air this coming Monday night on the USA Network.
Steel Cage Match: Drew McIntyre defeated Dolph Ziggler. After the match, Ziggler called for McIntyre to get back in the ring. McIntyre delivered a claymore kick using a steel chair and the cage. McIntyre returned again and hit a fourth claymore.
Triple H and Shane McMahon arrive in limo.
Seth Rollins wants his Intercontinental Championship rematch with Dean Ambrose. Triple H is out and reminds Rollins that automatic rematches are gone. Triple H wants the old Rollins back and books him against Baby Lashley. Shane McMahon arrives and books a battle royal with the winner getting an Intercontinental Championship match later in the show.
Apollo Crews won the Battle Royal for a title shot. The ending saw Baron Corbin eliminate Curt Hawkins and then Crews sent Corbin over the top rope.
Natalya announces she will be in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match.
Corbin is complaining in the ring about losing the battle royal earlier. Elias is out and sings a song with a New Year’s Rockin’ Eve theme, which also mocks Corbin. They brawl into the crowd with Corbin eventually retreating.
Bayley, Sasha Banks & Ember Moon defeated The Riott Squad.
Bobby Lashley defeated Seth Rollins via DQ. Rollins used the chair on Lashley for the disqualification. He was not done and attacked Lio Rush with the chair before hitting the curb stomp.
Jinder Mahal & The Singh Brothers defeated Rhyno and Heath Slater.
Dean Ambrose defeated Apollo Crews to remain Intercontinental Champion.
Ronda Rousey and Natalya defeated Tamina Snuka and Nia Jax in the main event. Rousey made Tamina tap.
Some other notes from the show: Alexa Bliss will have a new talk show next week. It is titled “Moments of Bliss” and Ronda Rousey will be the first guest. John Cena, Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman are also confirmed to appear next week. Plus, RAW Tag Team Champions Bobby Roode & Chad Gable take on The Revival.
