Jon Moxley loves to wrestle, cut promos and have a good time. He is more about the action and less about the drama that unfolds.
For AEW, they have more drama than needed. Maybe, with CM Punk fired, the company can start to settle.
While Jon Moxley is not known to use his position as a top star to get what he wants, he does provide input. Very recently, according Sean Ross Sapp behind Fightful’s paywall, the multi time AEW World Champion has been pushing for AEW to sign Sami Callihan.
Injury Has Altered AEW Plans
Also, there are others within AEW that want to see him join their promotion.
Callihan is now a free agent after completing his Impact Wrestling contract. Impact Wrestling wanted to keep him around, but money was a major factor.
“After years with IMPACT Wrestling, Callihan is now gone from the company in which he became a world champion,” said Sapp. “We’re told there doesn’t appear to be any ill will from either side, but a deal was not reached, and Callihan left.”
Callihan’s Impact Wrestling World Championship run was special, especially for one particular reason. He had no problem letting Tessa Blanchard pin him to became the first female to be Impact Wrestling World Champion.
The downside was Blanchard’s title reign started as tons of accusations were made about her being a bully and racist. In the end, Blanchard would depart Impact Wresting and has struggled to be signed elsewhere.
Callihan has fought for basically all major wrestling companies like NJPW, Lucha Underground, CZW, Ring of Honor and even a few years with NXT.
So, will Sami Callihan be the next wrestler to join AEW or will he land somewhere else?
