‘I Don’t Think We’ve Seen the Last of Him’: WWE Legend Fuels Speculation Goldberg’s Retirement Match Isn’t His Last

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross does not believe Bill Goldberg’s retirement match at Saturday Night’s Main Event will really be his last.

“I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Goldberg,” Ross said on his “Grilling JR” podcast. “I think it was booked correctly and not overexposed. You dress that match up with the right opponent. Billy could certainly be back in the hunt or something. He’s proven that he draws.

“He’s a very unique talent, and so I hope that he does more. I really do… He’s developed into more of a wrestling fan and a student of the game, and I think that’s important, that he’s still learning… He delivered. He did what he’s supposed to do,” he added. “The bottom line was, protect Goldberg and get Gunther over. And they accomplished both those things.”

Heading into his “final match” last week, there were various signs pointing to it not being his pro wrestling swan song. He revealed in May that he always wanted to have his final match in Israel. And he was still open to the idea despite the SNME plans.

However, this week, the Hall of Famer and WCW icon admitted to not being happy with not being given enough TV time for his farewell speech, but for how the whole match was set up.

“I would have loved for them to announce it in January. And have a build-up to it and do something like that, that I thought was maybe worthy of my career,” Goldberg said on Ariel Helwani’s podcast. “Let’s just say they chose to do it with three weeks’ notice. It is what it is. It’s part of the package. It’s part of the meal you get dealt. And I would be remiss in thinking I thought the meal would be different, but shame on me for thinking it would be different. Let’s just say I’m pissed off at the way that I went out.”
