‘- Impact Wrestling is looking to leave Pop TV when their deal ends at the end of the year according to PWInsider. The rumor is that the wrestling company, which now has their offices in Canada, are looking to work with a company inside the United States.
This comes only a week after Pop TV moved Impact Wrestling from 8 PM EST to 10 PM EST. Impact Wrestling officials were not pleased to learn of the change; plus, they were only given a weeks notice. The new spot has seen the show draw some record lows when it pertains to viewership. The last two episodes only drew 98,000 viewers and 105,000 viewers.
In January 2016, Impact Wrestling debuted on Pop TV. They were previously on stations such as Fox Sports, Destination American and Spike TV. Their time on Spike TV saw the biggest numbers and also was when their roster was full of known pro wrestling names.
There is a chance that Impact Wrestling will be without a TV spot to air their product come January 1. Like we have seen with the demise of WCW, a wrestling company has no value if they are not on TV.
– CM Punk will be at Cage Fury Fighting Championships for their December 14 from Atlantic City, but not in a fighting type role. Instead, he will be working as a commentator.
“CM Punk’s knowledge and passion for MMA is incredible, and his charisma and personality make him a perfect fit for this role,” said CFFC President Rob Haydak. “By pairing him with [play-by-play broadcaster] Mike Gill, a true sports broadcasting veteran who has been around the fight game his whole career in Atlantic City, we have a great combination for our first show on UFC Fight Pass.”
After leaving WWE and pro wrestling, Punk tried his hands at MMA. He fought twice in the UFC, losing via first round submission and then by unanimous decision. In both fights, Punk was criticized as not being at the right level to compete for the UFC. Punk was let go after losing at UFC 225 and has not stated if his MMA run is over.
