Nic Nemeth, also known as former WWE star Dolph Ziggler, appeared at the New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) event Wrestle Kingdom 18 last night, alongside his brother AEW star Ryan Nemeth. More details on this are below.
Former WWE Star Dolph Ziggler Attends Wrestle Kingdom 18
Both Nic and Ryan sat in the VIP section following Tama Tonga’s win of the NEVER Openweight Championship. They sat to watch Guerillas of Destiny beat Bishamon in a match for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Championships.
WWE shockingly released Nic Nemeth in September 2023, ending his close to two-decade run with the company. His first wrestling appearance since leaving the company will take place this month on the 20th in Puerto Rico.
Could TNA And WWE Have A Partnership?
He’ll be facing 21-time WWC Universal Heavyweight Champion Ray Gonzalez at the Euphoria event. It’s his first match since the May 29th, 2023 edition of Monday Night RAW.
At that point in time, he faced JD McDonagh. The bout resulted in a double count-out.
Dolph Ziggler’s History With The WWE
Nemeth entered the land of WWE in 2004, heading first to their developmental territory, Ohio Valley Wrestling. He’d debut on the main roster in 2005, as part of the five-male “cheerleading” faction, The Spirit Squad.
In 2008, he was repackaged as “Dolph Ziggler”, and climbed up the ladder of the WWE. During his tenure with the company, he accomplished a tremendous amount of success and “did it all”.
From two WWE title runs, he also held the IC title six times, the U.S. title twice, the NXT Championship, and was a four-time WWE Tag Title holder. Not to mention the fact that he scored the Money in the Bank briefcase in 2012.
In addition, Nemeth spent his time off the WWE road performing in comedy shows. It’s unclear what his Wrestle Kingdom appearance was exactly all about.
Still, as his WWE no-compete clause has expired, there is a possibility he could be scouting things for future opportunities. Only time will tell.
