Bobby Roode Pays Visit to 8-Year-Old Manchester Arena Attack Victim

The terrorist attack on the Manchester Arena has left many of us Brits reeling. Not only was this a terror attack on Britain, it was also a terror attack on the most vulnerable and innocent – children.

Even though this does not make up for what happened, it is nice to see that the WWE is trying to ease the pain of survivors. One being an eight-year-old girl called Lilly Harrison. Here is the story!

What Happened at Manchester?

While it is unlikely you are unfamiliar with what happened at Manchester Arena, here is a brief summary of the devastating events that took place on the 22nd of May 2017.

After an Ariana Grande concert, on the above-mentioned date, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb with the intent to kill as many children as possible. The bomb was made to achieve maximal casualties and was filled with nuts and bolts (shrapnel).

119 people were injured during the attack, some are still in critical condition. As of the 26th of May 2017, it was declared that 75 people were in hospital – which included 23 children in critical condition. On the same date, media released the news that ten people dead under the age of twenty; this includes a young girl of only eight.

The attacker was later found to be a 22-year-old British Sunni Muslim with Libyan ancestry, called Salman Ramadan Abedi. Even though the British security services were familiar with him, he was not regarded as high security. Of course, with devastating consequences.

Meeting Bobby Roode

Lilly Harrison suffered shrapnel wounds during the Manchester Arena attack. She is currently recovering at home, but received a visit from some of her favorite NXT celebrities; this includes the “Glorious One” Bobby Roode.

During the meeting, the Glorious One gave the little girl her own NXT Title Belt. Lilly clearly enjoyed the visit of her favorite superstars, and I must admit that I was crying a little watching the video of the meeting on Sky News.

My Take On This

In these dark times, it is difficult to tell your children how to deal with terrorism. How do you explain to your child that someone sets off a bomb with the intention of hurting and killing you? These types of visits are essential for children. Not only to make them feel a little safer and happier, but also to show them that not all adults mean them harm.

I applaud the WWE for this initiative. Even though there are many other families who were devastated by this, it is good to see that NXT superstars have taken the time to meet a fan who was impacted by this horrible incident. I’m sure that she will get some happy memories now, despite the painful memories she got after the concert and will probably remain with her forever.

What do you think about the visit? Do you agree that this was done in a respectful and admirable way? Let me know in the comment section below!
