Becky Lynch Vs. Ronda Rousey Should Close Survivor Series

At this point in the game, one of the only few Survivor Series programs that has the WWE Universe invested in this Sunday’s pay-per-view (PPV) is Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey. Not only was the match booked early enough to garner a solid buildup, the Monday Night RAW after the Evolution PPV, but these women have been killing it with televised promos, as well as posts and banter on social media.

But last night’s close to RAW was phenomenal. Not only nodding Rousey and Lynch for their roles in the ending of the show, but honorable mentions to all the women on SmackDown LIVE and the Red brand for their involvement in the segment that not only ended in utter chaos, but with Lynch’s bleeding head adding that little bit of extra.

Why am I, why is the WWE Universe, so invested in this storyline? Simply put, it is a story outside of story that has fans so pumped. Not only are you dealing with a champion versus champion and brand versus brand match, but also a huge underlying factor that Lynch brought up during her in-ring promo last week on the November 6th edition of SmackDown LIVE: it’s the chosen one versus the one that shouldn’t be in the spotlight (but is), kind of program – one that defies the boundaries within television and spills out into the real world. It’s armbar submission versus armbar submission; it’s a story about two strong women, who once were looking at bragging rights, but thanks to last night, are simply looking to garner revenge. It’s gotten extremely personal, on so many levels, and one big applaud to not only the flawless of buildup on this program within television, but social media as well.

It’s main stream appeal versus what loyal wrestling fans want to see; it feels like the Rock versus “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for the women’s division of today.

With the outstanding buildup, the wave of positive fan reaction to women’s wrestling, and how both Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch are on top of their game in current standings, there is no doubt in mind that both these ladies should main event Survivor Series and tear the roof off the Staples Center of Sunday night. Lynch and Rousey have shown incredible performances as of late, and with Becks having more in-ring experience than Ronda, the need to be able to check off a Big Four PPV main event, and performing on A-game level is needed if the plans for Rousey to main event Wrestlemania are still on the table.

Regardless of what happens, these women have earned the spot of closing Survivor Series, so, here’s hoping the powers that be see what the fans are seeing; a huge opportunity for the WWE to continue to elevate their women’s division by giving two women who have buildup their PPV program perfectly, the right to close main event with a bang.
