A new rumor gives a major update on AEW pay-per-view events potentially moving to streaming service HBO MAX, and when it may start.
Last year, one of the biggest stories for WWE was about what network or streaming service would land the rights to WWE Raw and Smackdown broadcasts. In the end, the company landed a pair of deals with Netflix and USA Network, respectively, that will pay them $6.4 billion over the next decade. Now it’s AEW’s turn.

What happens with AEW television shows after this year has been a major story for the company in 2024. While CEO Tony Khan has been open to taking offers from any interested party, it has always seemed likely that the company would come to terms on a new deal with Warner Bros.-Discovery. The parent company of TNT and TBS.
The biggest change that has been rumored is that the WB-Discovery’s stream service HBO MAX would also become the home of the AEW library and potentially PPV events. Similar to the deal WWE has with Peacock. Well, some new information on that element of a new pact was revealed this weekend by “Mat Men Podcast” co-host Andrew Zarian.
“They will be on MAX in January,” he reported. “They could do it sooner, but I do know that they are planning on January. I do know that pay-per-views are going to be on there. They don’t have an exclusivity on the pay-per-views. So it will also be available in other places. It’s like WWE is. You can still order those pay-per-views that are available on Peacock.”
If true, that will save AEW fans a lot of money on having to pay $49.99 for each pay-per-view. Now they could get the events and content from the company’s catalog for either $9.99 per month (with ads) or $15.99 (without ads).
