Surprising New AEW Rumor Points To Danhausen’s Exit Soon: Is A Jump To NXT Likely in 2025?

A surprising new AEW rumor makes it seem like Danhausen’s days in All-Elite Wrestling could soon come to an end.

AEW quickly grew to notoriety by showcasing independent performers WWE was unwilling to take a chance on. Performers that didn’t have the classic WWE look and style. Wrestlers such as Orange Cassidy, Darby Allin, and Nyla Rose.

However, one off-the-wall talent that fans could not help but enjoy was the comedic wrestler Danhausen. From his unique verbal delivery to the curses he puts on his foes, and on to his awesome face paint, Danhausen is a talent that perfectly fits AEW. But his time in the promotion seems at an end.

On Sunday, Fightful Select reported that sources claim AEW and Danhausen have not been in regular contact for over six months, aside from indie date approvals. The outlet claimed he was set to return from injury late last year but when plans changed he aired frustrations with CEO Tony Khan.

While there were plans in place for him to return in 2024, they never came together and apparently, AEW thought he preferred to compete for indy companies instead of on episodes of AEW Collision. Yet, that was not what he expected to be doing over the last year.

Danhausen’s AEW contract expires in 2025

The outlet added that his contract expires next summer and there are no plans at all for him currently. It sure seems like a matter of time before he is eventually released. Could that open the door for a move to WWE with NXT?

Danhausen is a very interesting character. But his ability to make wrestling fans laugh is a quality that WWE would surely be interested in. NXT is on a roll right now and has one of its most diverse rosters in quite some time. The success of Chase U shows how humor is appreciated and rewarded on the gold and black brand.

It would also give the company the chance to see if his character works with a regular WWE audience before a potential main roster move.
