A new report claims that AEW’s free agent signing spree of 2024 will continue and they are expected to bring in a pair of multi-time champions from TNA.
While there are concerns about attendance for AEW events and ratings on television broadcasts over the last few months the organization has made a bunch of headlines from signing a trio of elite free agents.
Earlier this year they made a major signing by adding former NJPW world champion Will Ospreay. That was then followed up with massive contracts being handed out to Mercedes Mone — AKA Sasha Banks — and NJPW legend Kazuchika Okada. All three moves were huge additions and they beat out competing bids from WWE in the process.
Well, it seems like AEW boss Tony Khan is far from done making big signings, according to PW Insider reporter Mike Johnson. On Tuesday night he reported that TNA/Impact Wrestling greats Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley (The Motor City Machine Guns) are now officially free agents, and their next destination may have been decided on.
“Within TNA, there’s been more of a realization that the Guns are gone, where before some hoped they might still return to work some dates. There are some in TNA who believe the Guns will sign with AEW and that will be their landing spot,” Johnson wrote.
The Guns are three-time TNA tag champs and have won tag gold in Game Changer Wrestling, New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Ring of Honor. Both men have also won individual belts during their runs with the promotion including its world title. They should be a dynamite addition to the AEW tag division if they do indeed sign with them soon.
