Have Talks Between AEW And Shane McMahon ‘Fizzled Out’? New Surprising Rumor Emerges

A new report suggests that the apparent momentum behind Shane McMahon joining AEW has stalled, and if he even does sign a deal it won’t be until 2025.

One of the more fascinating stories in the wrestling industry over the last five months has been rumors that former WWE executive and performer Shane McMahon could potentially join the No. 2 company in the business.

It all started with rumblings that the son of WWE founder Vince McMahon had reached out to AEW talent to get some inside intel on the company. A few weeks later it was revealed that he and All Elite Wrestling CEO Tony Khan had a meeting to discuss a working relationship.

Things have been quiet since. However, many around the industry have felt that the ongoing storyline of the Blackpool Combat Club turning heel and running roughshod over AEW is meant to set up McMahon’s eventual debut. However, a surprising new report pours cold water on the idea the former WWE European Champion is anywhere close to putting pen to paper on a contract.

“The talks between AEW & Shane McMahon have reportedly ‘fizzled out’ over the past couple of weeks,” wrestling reporter Niko Exxtra claimed Saturday. “A few weeks ago prior to WrestleDream, the company was confident that it was a done deal, but the McMahon party ‘went quiet’ and a deal failed to be made.

“AEW management is still hopeful that it will still happen in the near future, but for right now early/mid-2025 is more realistic.”

Obviously, the rumor must be taken with a sizable grain of salt but it is still interesting nonetheless. The idea of Shane McMahon being in AEW has been a divisive topic. But it still seems like Tony Khan is very interested in the idea of a McMahon working for or with him in his company.
