Former UFC champion Sean Strickland picked up a key victory Saturday night at UFC 302.

And he added some brownie points for himself.

With former President of the United States, Donald Trump, watching, Strickland downed Paulo Costa. The co-main event from Newark, New Jersey was contested over five rounds.

Strickland, always outspoken, made sure to signal Trump, who was a guest of UFC president Dana White.

“President Trump, you’re the man,” Strickland said. “It is a damn travesty what they are doing to you.

“I’ll be donating to you, my man.”

Trump was found guilty earlier this week on several charges. He has since started a donation push towards another run at the office of the president in November.

For the 33-year-old Strickland, the win was his first since losing the title in January. At UFC 297, he was bested by split decision vs. Dricus du Plessis in his first title defense.

Fourteen of Strickland’s 29 career wins have come via decision including six of his last seven overall.

The main card of UFC 302 streamed live on ESPN+ pay-per-view.
