Former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has always been one to speak his mind.
The fighter was recently asked about an upcoming UFC 300 bout pitting Justin Gaethje against Max Holloway.

And needless to say, Nurmagomedov does not quite understand it.
“All respect for Max Holloway, but I don’t know and I don’t understand why UFC make this fight,” Nurmagomedov said in an interview with MMA Junkie. “Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway, it makes no sense in my opinion.
“My opinion, Holloway is supposed to fight with (current UFC champion Ilia) Topuria. Justin is supposed to fight with (current UFC champion) Islam (Makhachev) in May or June.”
UFC 300 takes place April 13 with Gaethje vs. Holloway a key bout for the “BMF” title.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Wonders Who UFC Champ Gets Next
Part of the reason for Nurmagomedov’s confusion revolves around Makhachev. He wonders who Topuria will get if Holloway falls and wonders the same for Makhachev.
“Movsar (Evloev) is the best option,” Nurmagomedov said. “I don’t know if Dana White will give him (a title shot). My opinion, he deserves this.
“I don’t understand. It makes no sense why they don’t give Islam to Justin Gaethje. Why they make him fight vs. Holloway? I don’t understand, but Islam is ready to fight with anybody.”

Nurmagomedov has shared the Octagon with Gaethje in the past, unifying the title in the process.
UFC 300 features Alex Pereira defending his light heavyweight title against former champion Jamahl Hill. Also, Weili Zhang puts her strawweight belt on the line vs. Yan Xiaonan.
