UFC 300: Dana White Praises ‘Absolute Stud’ Leon Edwards

UFC 300 Dana White

You don’t always get to hear Dana White talk positively about one of his fighters.

But in discussing how the UFC 300 main event came about recently, that is exactly what White did.

The UFC boss explained that they offered current welterweight champion Leon Edwards three different opponents for the upcoming marquee event.

And each time, Edwards accepted.

“Let me say this,” White said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Leon Edwards has had, like three opponents throughout this thing. Leon doesn’t say no to anybody. This kid is an absolute stud.

“He’s had three opponents thrown at him during UFC 300 (talks and each time he has said) yes, yes yes. He was willing to take on anybody.”

The promotion has opted to go with Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill for the light heavyweight title in the main event of the night instead. And while one more bout is expected to be announced, it will not be Edwards.

“He’ll fight anybody,” White added. “This guy could care less. He’s up for the challenge. He’s ready to fight anybody.

“I love it and respect it very much.”
