The rivalry between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones just will not end. Even now in retirement, Cormier cannot help but let it be known how he feels about the reigning UFC heavyweight champion.
During a recent fan Q&A ahead of UFC 312, “DC” let it be known that he does not consider Jones to be the greatest of all-time. And it has nothing to do with his in-Octagon resume.

“You can’t deny his greatness,” Cormier said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “Look at what he’s done: the guy has now fought through three generations of fighters. Of course, he’s one of the greatest fighters of all time. But when you do dirty shit, you don’t get to be called the greatest of all time.”
Cormier, of course, is referencing the many legal battles that have hindered Jones. Those include run-ins with the law and problems with state-sanctioning bodies. Cormier knows all too well, as he had bouts with Jones affected by these.
Does Resume Of Jon Jones Make Up For Legal Troubles?
It is a very interesting proposition when it comes to placing Jones atop the list of greatest of all time. Yes, he has made it hard on himself with his many, many legal battles. But his resume is second to none.
Jones became the youngest UFC champion when he bested Hall of Fame fighter Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at 23 years old. He holds numerous records including most title defenses, most wins, and longest win streak in the light heavyweight division.
After dominating at 205 pounds, Jones took time off and moved to heavyweight. He has done nothing but win the belt in that division and earn a key win over former champion Stipe Miocic.

Jones also holds wins over the likes of Cormier, Alexander Gustafsson, Glover Teixeira, Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida, and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. His lone loss, of course, came by disqualification to Matt Hamill in 2009.
