UFC 2023 By The Numbers Showcases Best Of Best

Leon Edwards

Recently, the official UFC website provided some fun numbers as a way to look back at the past 12 months in the promotion.

For anyone who loves to see interesting tidbits of information, all of it can be found on UFC.com.

Below are some of the more interesting ones that stuck out as the UFC celebrated its 30th anniversary.

There were a total of 43 events that took place in eight different countries and on four different continents. Those included 21 cities with 14 being pay-per-view cards.

On those 43 events, 520 total fights took place with the lightweight playing host to a high of 77. Welterweights took up 61 and featherweights 50 with nine catchweight bouts in all.

If you sat down and watched every single round of every single fight, you would have spent just under 94 hours glued to the Octagon. That included 19 undisputed title matches and six title changes.

Four Remained UFC Champions Throughout

Alexander Volkanovski at featherweight, Islam Makhachev at lightweight, Leon Edwards at welterweight and Zhang Weili at women’s strawweight held their titles throughout the calendar year.

The women’s bantamweight and featherweight belts remain vacant after the retirement of Amanda Nunes.

Finishes made up 261 of the bouts with 248 going to the scorecards. There were also 10 no-contests and one disqualification.

The UFC returns on January 13 with an event from the Apex in Las Vegas as Magomed Ankalaev and Johnny Walker square off in a rematch.
