It seems that despite being on a four-fight losing streak, former UFC BMF champion Jorge Masvidal is very confident about a potential matchup with the current holder of the belt, Justin Gaethje.

In November 2019, UFC welterweight star Jorge Masvidal put the fictional Baddest Mother ****er belt on the map in a main event clash against Nate Diaz at UFC 244. On that night, the native of Florida put a beating on the MMA great and won by TKO before the fourth round started due to cuts. However, that was also the last bout he won.

Since then he has fallen in four straight and all the defeats were decisive. It led the 39-year-old to retire last year. However, he walked back that decision late in 2023 and wants to return to action in MMA or boxing.

After his retirement, the company brought the belt back for a long-awaited rematch between Justin Gaethje and Dustin Poirier at UFC 291 in July. A scrap “The Highlight” won by knockout. He will defend the title at UFC 300 against Max Holloway, but with “Gamebred” back in the fight game, he is hoping for a chance at the belt he never lost. And he surprisingly believes he would make easy work of Gaethje.

“The guy that he beat to get that belt is a f***ing stud, he’s a killer, Dustin Poirier. But if you put BMF against BMF, if you put me against Gaethje in there, I would break his f***ing eye orbital, and I would f***ing chop him up. Hopefully, that can happen at some point,” Masvidal recently told Low Kick MMA.

Jorge Masvidal has always been a confident fighter, but it still is odd to expect to dominate such a dangerous and younger striker like Gaethje with Masvidal years removed from his prime and set to turn 40 later this year. Nonetheless, if Gaethje wins at UFC 300, a fight with Masvidal seems inevitable and would likely take place at 170 pounds.
