Fans gathered to take part in the efforts to promote the upcoming boxing match between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz got a little more than they bargained for on Thursday when a press conference erupted into a brawl between their two camps.

Outside of the Anaheim, CA’s Honda Center, where the former UFC stars will meet in the squared circle next month, a visibly disinterested Nate Diaz abruptly decided to leave the engagement. When he profanely denied a request for a stare down with his rival, words were exchanged and quickly escalated into a brawl.

While Jorge Masvidal was front and center for much of the extra show, Nate Diaz was at a safe distance and quietly observing it all unfold. Shortly afterwards, the Stockton native told FightHub TV, “I didn’t see anything, I was already gone.” Another verbal altercation occurred during that interview, but security intervened before any blows were thrown.

Jorge Masvidal vs. Nate Diaz PPV Price Revealed

The chaotic scene unfolded as Fanmio, the Florida-based entertainment company that is spearheading the event, revealed the asking price for pay-per-view access to the telecast.

As the former promotional home of the main event participants is taking a break following its annual International Fight Week, Fanmio is hoping they can scoop up the same $79.99 price tag for the BMF-adjacent boxing spectacle.

While UFC fans have been shelling out that amount since UFC 283 in January of 2023, it will represent a price hike for those that favor the sweet science.

By comparison, last Saturday’s Queensberry vs. Matchroom card that featured Deontay Wilder and Zhilei Zhang in the main in addition to a card packed with title bouts costed $69.99. May’s undisputed heavyweight championship between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury was the same price as well.

Originally, the event was scheduled for June 1 at The Forum in Inglewood, CA until Fanmio decided to move away from the busy day in combat sports which also included UFC 302 later in the evening.

The 10-round main event between Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz is now set for July 6 at the Honda Center. The card will also feature former WBA and IBF champ Danny Jacobs taking on Shane Mosley Jr. in the co-main event. UFC champion Anthony Pettis will also make an appearance opposite Chris Avila.

It will be Nate Diaz’s second outing in professional boxing. He previously lost a unanimous decision to Jake Paul in August. It will be Masvidal’s first time boxing since he won a majority decision in his 2008 debut.
