Welcome to the latest UFC results from Ringside Intel. This week, we bring you UFC 301 from Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The main card airs live on ESPN+ pay-per-view with prelims on ESPN2 and ESPN+
In the main event, Alexandre Pantoja defends his flyweight championship against Steve Erceg. Pantoja, a native Brazilian, is coming off a successful defend vs. Brandon Royval in December. Erceg, meanwhile, has lost just once in his career.
Former champion Jose Aldo returns in the co-main event, taking on Jonathan Martinez. There is a heavy Brazilian influence throughout the night. Vitor Petrino takes on Anthony Smith, Michel Pereira battles Ihor Potieria and Caio Borralho faces Paul Craig.
Now, let’s get to the action!
Champ retains, The King returns
Alexandre Pantoja was pushed to the limit by Steve Erceg in the headline bout. In the end, though, the championship remained around the waist of the Brazilian.
Pantoja successfully defended his flyweight title with a decision victory over the underdog. He has now scored two successful defenses of his belt since capturing it.
Former UFC champion Jose Aldo made his triumphant return to action with a decision win. Aldo bested Jonathan Martinez in the co-main event.
The 37-year-old from Brazil last fought in 2022, losing to Merab Dvalishvili. It was believed he had retired from the sport, only to return for this encounter. With the win, Aldo moved to 32-8 overall including 14 wins inside the UFC’s Octagon.
Anthony Smith and Michel Perreira earned guillotine submission wins while Caio Borralho kicked off the main card with a second-round knockout.
Joanderson Brito, Iasmin Lucindo, Myktybek Orolbai, Drakkar Klose, Mauricio Ruffy, Dione Barbosa, Ismael Bonfim and Alessandro Costa were also winners.
