The war of words between top boxing contender Ryan Garcia and reigning UFC champion Sean O’Malley is heating up.

Garcia, who has signed to face Devin Haney in April for the WBC super lightweight title, has promised to completely take O’Malley apart if they ever face off.

“I’ll beat his ass in MMA guaranteed,” Garcia said on The MMA Hour (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “I’m a natural, you don’t understand. I’m a natural wrestler. I just beat my security that’s a wrestler, I beat him.

“I’m strong and I’ve got crazy conditioning.”

O’Malley, scheduled to meet Marlon Vera in early March at UFC 299, is 17-1 with a no-contest. He has not lost since a 2020 meeting vs. Vera at UFC 252.

Ryan Garcia Extending His Skills

Garcia, who was a 15-time national amateur champion with a record of 215-15, started training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu two years ago. His trainer has been none other than Rener Gracie, who holds a fifth-degree black belt in BJJ.

The lone blemish on the record of Garcia is a 2023 knockout loss to Gervonta Davis. He has held the WBC Silver lightweight title, WBC interim lightweight belt and several others during his 25-fight career.

“I’ve already sent text messages to Dana (White),” Garcia said. “I’ve already got people that are connected to Dana to ask. I’ll come to UFC, pay me a bag.

“I’m down to do it after Devin Haney. I’m trying to beat Sean O’Malley’s ass.”
