Rhea Ripley admits she was jealous her WWE WrestleMania 39 title match against Charlotte Flair did not headline over the men.

Rhea Ripley Jealous Charlotte Flair Match Didn’t Headline WrestleMania

The past few years have seen WrestleMania be divided over two days. It is for the best as those 7 hour cards were brutal for the live audience.

Last year, there were questions about what would close WrestleMania 39 Night One. In the end, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn defeated The Usos (Jimmy Uso & Jey Uso) to claim both tag titles.

Therefore, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair vs Rhea Ripley was placed slightly below. Technically, Pat McAfee vs The Miz took place, but that was 3 minutes of nonsense.

While speaking to Fightful, Ripley gave the tag match credit, but feels she earned the right to headline WrestleMania.

“I have to give it to the guys,” said Ripley. “They had a very compelling story going into WrestleMania to the point that Mami was interested and Mami wanted to see who was gonna come up victorious.”

“Obviously, being the Royal Rumble winner, I wanted that main event spot so extremely bad. So, going out there as the semi-main, I did have a point to prove.”

“I wanted to show everyone that we could have main evented if given the opportunity to have a proper build to WrestleMania. So, I understand.”

“I completely understand. No hate to the boys, but was a little bit jealous.”

Both matches were awesome and deserved to headline the show. The tag match had a lengthy storyline, but the women’s match was slightly better and brutal.

If anything, WWE can say last year’s WrestleMania was the first time tag tam gold would headline the biggest show of the year.
