After lots of questions about what role Gunther will play at WWE WrestleMania 40, a spoiler is out about his opponent or opponents.
Possible Gunther Spoiler Involving WWE WrestleMania 40
We are starting to see confirmed matches for WrestleMania 40 and others have been heavily teased. Still, there are plenty of superstars that need a match.
One of those is none other than Gunther. The longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in WWE history will certainly be booked.
As of now, several wrestlers have teased challenging for the title. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer mentioned how WWE could head in the direction of a multi-person match.
“I heard of Gunther and Sami Zayn but when I watched the show tonight,” said Meltzer. “It was very clear that it could be a multi-person match because they had Chad Gable.
“Gunther mentioned R-Truth and The Miz and Gable and Sami. I don’t think they will do a battle royal, but they could. But, I mean Gunther, he seemed to be programmed with a lot of different people on the show.”
Originally, WWE was going to have Gunther take on Brock Lesnar after teasing a match at last year’s Royal Rumble. Although, with the accusations around Vince McMahon and Lesnar, “The Beast” was removed from creative and could be fired.
The year prior at WrestleMania 39, Gunther vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Sheamus was one of the best matches of the weekend. Gunther retained in a match where there were no losers.
He has been Intercontinental Champion for 625 days, which is historic. Clearly, WWE sees big things as we are likely looking at a future WWE Champion.
WrestleMania 40 comes from the Lincoln Financial Field in Philly. It runs across two days, April 6 and 7. Already, the carding looks incredible.
